Me & Coffee

A lot of years ago I just did not like coffee. My grandma would brew coffee daily in a moka pot, or "greca" as we know it in Puerto Rico, and warm milk to drink coffee with milk. I would love the aroma around the house while coffee was brewing, but I would not drink it. Eventually, while finishing high school or as college began (not really sure which), I began trying iced coffee from places like Starbucks and I liked it. Life in college pushed me little by little to drink coffee from drip machines and from vending machines in the corridors. I guess it was almost in the end of my bachelor's in Biology that my roommate (big coffee addict) got me into drinking coffee daily and even more than once a day. He also got me to discriminate flavors, so I began tasting different brands and picking the ones I liked the most. Our favorite was "Gran Batey" Coffee, which is an amazing coffee (and to this day still one of my favorites).

Afterwards I bought my own moka pots (3-cups and 6-cups), a little pot for boiling my milk, a mixer and a strainer to brew coffee daily (almost in a ritualistic way) while I continued my studies. I almost always bought "Café Lareño" which is easily one of the best "cheaper" coffees available here. After a while I bought a mini mill to manually grind roasted coffee beans, and with it came other adventures in coffee. Tried out some brands online and bought myself a french press (actually two french presses). My adventures with coffee continue to this day and will continue afterwards. Of course this is the story of coffee and me, but the best part of the adventure has been sharing coffee with people I love. NOTHING BEATS chats over coffee.

Some later chapters will probably include roasting the coffee beans myself, trying the aeropress, getting an espresso machine and one that will be most fulfilling is to harvest coffee from a coffee plant I will grow myself.

Maybe you can tell me if you like coffee, and what's your favorite way of drinking it.
